BusinessElite, First, Business Passengers: Checked luggage cannot exceed 70 lbs (32 kg) in weight, or 62 linear inches (157 cm) in dimension. Passengers can check in two bags free of charge. Three bags are free on all flights to/from Brazil. Any weight over Delta's allotted amount will incur additional fees per pound/kilo.

Oversized and additional bags may be accepted at the discretion of Delta and will be subject to charges determined by the Delta agent at check-in. SkyMiles, who are Diamond, Silver or Gold Medallion and SkyTeam Elite members receive perks regarding checked luggage. Based on destination, the luggage fee is waived, even for economy passengers.

For domestic flights, passengers can pre-print their boarding passes online in advance. If there is no checked-in luggage, they can proceed directly to security and on to their departure gate. Passengers needing to check in luggage must present the e-ticket reservation booking code and luggage to be weighed to the Delta agent in order to get their boarding pass and luggage check issued.

• US domestic flights: passengers must check-in 75 minutes before the flight departure time. Otherwise, check-in must be complete at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time, with arrival at the boarding gate no less than 15 minutes before takeoff.
• International flights: all passengers should arrive at the airport three hours before flight departure time. The required security check-in for documentation and luggage must be completed 60 minutes before takeoff. Passengers need to be at the boarding gate at least 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Always allow ample time as lines can be heavy during peak travel times. Passengers can be denied boarding if not on time.

Boarding Information

Delta groups passengers for boarding, with each passenger needing to show their boarding pass and ID. First class passengers are called onboard first, followed by Delta's elite frequent flier members and then elite members of Delta's partner airlines. After these groups have boarded, other passengers will be called to board in groups based on their designated seat assignments, starting with rows at the back of the plane.

Frequent Flyer Information

SkyMiles is Delta Air Lines' frequent flyer program. Members enrolled in the program can accrue mileage points with each trip flown with Delta or flights or purchases with Delta's designated partners such as other air carriers or major hotel chains. Members can later redeem the accrued mileage for free flights, travel upgrades and other items. Delta allows members of their frequent flyer program to purchase points to add on to their account. The more mileage earned, the more the flexibility the member gains when redeeming miles. As of January 2015, mileage accrued will not expire.

All passengers are allowed to take one carry-on bag and one personal item onboard at no extra charge. The carry-on bag cannot exceed 45 linear inches and cannot be bigger than 22" x 14" x 9" or 56 x 35 x 23cm. If the bag does not fit into the trial size bin at the Delta check-in counter at the airport, it must be checked. Approved personal items include: handbag, briefcase, camera or diaper bag, laptop computer or any item similar in size. Some additional items are also allowed onboard and do not count towards the allowance of one personal item. These items include food or beverages purchased after the security checkpoint, merchandise from the duty free shop, coats, jackets and umbrellas.

Passengers will not incur additional charges for wheelchairs or crutches, strollers and child seats. Be aware that certain types of wheelchairs and mobility aids with batteries may not be allowed onboard, please call beforehand to confirm.

Pets: On most flights, Delta allows dogs, cats and birds to travel with passengers in the cabin - counting towards the carry-on baggage allowance. (Birds are only allowed in the cabin on domestic U.S. flights.) One-way flight fees for each animal are charged, with prices varying according to destination. In the case of many island destinations (UK, Hawaii, etc.) and a few other locations, animals must travel in the cargo hold.
